As I was growing up, drawing had always come naturally to me, and art has always inspired me. Throughout school, including some university courses, I have always put my best efforts into anything I was working on, and have always enjoyed experimenting with different mediums. I come from a large family that has always supported me through the many good times, and the persistent hard times that we all go through. I have a very colorful past filled with many ups and downs, and many beautiful places seen... but from the very first time I put machine and needle to skin, nothing has been more important to me than tattooing. Tattooing saved my life in many ways, and I love using art, and the power thats in the art of tattooing, to help my clients feel inspired and connected and expressive too. I take the bond between tattooer and collector very seriously. And I thank all of my clients for being in my life and enabling me to do something I love.
I got my start tattooing in Alaska in 2004. I apprenticed in PA years before but Alaska was where I tattooed my first client. I use to say I just ”fell into“ tattooing. In actuality, I fell so in love with the medium of tattoo, and needed the direction and focus of such a lifestyle and craft so badly, that I made a decision: this is how I want to make my living.... and I am so glad I never gave up. I had worked many jobs before tattooing... From printing t-shirts for many many years with my twin brother for big-name corporations and orginazations. To helping my brothers launch fireworks professionally as licensed pyrotechnics. From landscaping, construction, learning about antiques and refinishing them with my older brother. I’ve worked for the S.C.A. and AmeriCorps, building hiking and biking trails in state parks, and mapping invasive species in deserts. I’ve lived alone in a cabin in Alaska with no running water, and count it as the best days of my life..... but nothing has been more rewarding to me than tattooing. I am filled with gratitude, and feel very, very lucky. I hope to create art for the rest of my life, and I couldn’t do it without you!!
